Oy, it's hot...

Greetings, family and friends, from Twin Falls, Idaho.  Today is Friday, July 12....

It's been hot.  Temperatures here in southern Idaho have been in triple digits every day since I posted last weekend.  My tiny cat brain keeps forgetting how hot it is outside, and I keep asking at the door to go for my walk or outdoor time....

As soon as one of the humans opens the door to let me out and I am hit with the blast of hot air, I insist on going back in immediately.  Note how red my nose is (from the heat), as I patiently wait to go back in....

This happens a dozen times per day.  I've not, however, forgotten the exact spot where the air conditioning vent shoots cooled air onto my bed, so I've been spending the majority of my days there.

Mark and Jan have spent much of their time this week at home hiding from the heat.  They've done their exploring early in the mornings or in the evenings, spending the midday hours at home, disturbing my naps.  It's OK, though--I understand their need to stay cool.

We've not gone far since we left the Boise area Monday.  We spent one night at a Harvest Host winery/golf course...

As you can see, Mark and I took a walk on the golf course, specifically a "fairway."  Strangely, the "fairway" felt a lot like grass under my paws, and even smelled and tasted like grass.  I'm thinking they may make fairways out of grass and are fooling the humans by giving it a different name.

Monday, we travelled a short distance to Twin Falls.  We are staying at a beautiful county park (with big, fat groundhogs) along Rock Creek.  See the picture above.

The humans' adventures here have included a trip to Shoshone Falls, known as the Niagara Falls of the west....

....And since we're here, let's play "Where's Jan?'....

They also went to see live music at the Downtown Commons (but it was 105 degrees so they didn't stay long) and visited the Minidoka National Historic Site, where more than 13,000 Japanese-Americans were "relocated" during World War II.

We're scheduled to leave here Sunday, and will begin moving a little more quickly through Idaho and into Montana on the way to Canada.  I'm hoping the weather will cool as we move north.  I miss my outdoor time.

I'll reach back to you next weekend from somewhere in Montana....
